What you have to ask yourself is how much money is that peace of mind worth to you. I save $100+ per service visit by using my independent mechanic. When you figure the warranty is 50,000 miles long, I'm probably saving upwards of $1,000 over the length of that warranty...for $1,000 my independent mechanic could fix whatever the dealer might deny...
In any event, I have had 5 Lexus vehicles, and I have never had a problem getting Lexus to honor the warranty when they have not serviced the vehicle.

I agree that having a relationship with the dealer makes it easier to get warranty work done in general.

For sure, and like I said the dealer is a great experience, you just pay a lot for that experience. But...we all pay a lot for nice experiences be they at a hotel or a restaurant or a clothing store, it depends on the value to each person individually.
The important point is though that you do not HAVE to use the dealer.

There I totally agree. I would probably not use Lexus service for a car out of warranty. In general my cars are replaced by then (how I waste my money

I cannot help but notice that the person who started this thread has not come back to the thread at all since starting it.
I also notice that the OP has a total of 3 posts on this board, spread out over about 6 months. In each case, he has started a new thread. The purpose of the threads seems to be to help him make a decision between purchasing a new ES or a new Camry. In each instance, he has asked for the thoughts of others, and, in each instance, a number of people have shared their thoughts. But, with each of those 3 threads, he has not bothered to return a single time to the thread that he started. It would also appear that, over 6 months, the OP has not made much progress toward making the decision regarding which car to purchase, which makes me wonder how serious he is about buying a car.
I have always figured that it was bad internet forum form to start a thread asking for others to share their thoughts and, then, not come back to thank those who have contributed those thoughts. At a minimum, it would be nice to know that he has read the responses that others have taken their time to give in response to his request.
I guess I can only hope that there are some others who may have benefited from the contributions of those who have participated in the thread.
