I use a Text to Speech app on my Samsung S4 called AVX. I have it set to output the audio of my text messages via the Music Stream.

I found that when I'm using Pandora and receive a text, the Pandora app pauses to give access to AVX that will then take over to read the message and allow me to respond to the text. After I'm done using AVX, Pandora starts back up - right at the place of the song it stopped. I love it!

Now, when I'm listening to iHeart Radio, it is very different. IHeart Radio continues to go and I can hear my text in the background. Not the best - but it works ok.

This means that iHeart Radio is using a different stream via Bluetooth to send their audio. Probably why the audio quality is not as good as Pandora.

With a little testing, I can confirm which stream iHeart is using.

I don't believe it has anything to do with BT perse. I thing the Pandora app pauses the play where it is. I've had the same song resume playing where it was after phone calls as well as the next day with the car having been turned off overnight. I am pretty sure it is just a difference in the way the Pandora and iHeart apps work.
