oil change interval with low mileage

This was not a normal activity for me. I usually change my oil every 5K miles regardless.. Sometimes in my second car, it would take almost 2 years to do 6K miles is usually the longest I usually go.. But this other car sat in storage for awhile and i took it out and had the oil change change prior to 3K miles in 4.5 years (yes, I was scared) and surprisingly oil was still ok.. I wouldn't suggest anyone try it.. But I Def can say its safe to do 2 years for 5K. (But because of special circumstances, I had an opportunity to Test Oil in long-term conditions)
I'm OCD with my GS.
Very interesting on the Blackstone results, though.

I have a 1971 Datsun 240Z that I have owned for over 40 years, but now it sits in storage 11 months a year and only gets driven on a few warm sunny days in the summer, so it accumulates 100 -200 miles per year. I change the oil (dino) and filter about every 6 years (longest was 8). Seems to work well for me, never had a an engine problem (original engine with 63k miles).
Now Im not suggesting we should do this long of an OCI with a Lexus, but the 12 month max can certainly be extended, especially with some oil testing to support that decision.
