Default Why are there few Es350 Ultra Luxury trim on lots

As we visited three dealerships today they all had one thing in common. They had very few es350 vehicles with Ultra Luxury package. One of the sales reps said the reason for that is most customers looking for the options available only with Ultra Luxury package usually decide they might as well upgrade to a GS. My bs radar went off like crazy but thought I would ask about it here anyway.

That will vary depending on two factors.

First, whether dealers are likely to have large numbers of UL vehicles on their lots is going to vary depending on region. In some areas where the UL has been more popular, dealers are likely to have more of them in their inventories. In other regions where the demand for the UL package has not been as high, dealers will have very few of them on their lots.

Also, though, the availability of the UL package (or other packages and options) will vary from one point in the year to another depending on what option and package combinations the production lines have been set up to produce most recently because those combinations will change several times during the course of a model year's run.

I'm in the NYC metro area with many Lexus dealers and when looking for a silver/black '12 ES UL,I had to travel to VA to buy one which I did.
I was told only 5% of ES350's imported are UL models.I don't know how true that is,though.

My dealer just looked on the computer, found what I wanted, and had it brought to me. I just had to wait a couple of weeks to get it.
nflguy, where in TX are you located?

I think the UL package adds enough "sticker shock" to an ES that dealers find the base ES easier to sell. Most customers won't immediately notice the subtleties that distinguish the UL from the plane-jane base or luxury package ES. That being said, I think the added features really add substantially to the overall ES experience.

In the next 1-2 months, my 2014 ES300h will be for sale (with UL package of course). Vehicle is pristine with ~29,000 miles. Silver Lining Metallic / black interior, Mark Levinson (basically every option except the radar cruise).

If anyone is interested....
