I agree any deep chip that you feel with your finger nail, rubbing compound/polishing may not be enough to polish it out. I'd say try the touch up paint route, be it Dr. Color Chip or a steady hand, instead of repainting the entire hood that will no doubt get new chips. I'd also get the clear bra to protect against new chips, but again there's no guarantee against all chips.

I'd also let the windshield folks repair the chips at no cost to you thru your insurance. Again, if you're not satisfied, then have it replaced later.

$700 for clear bra for 1/2 the hood? Wow, that's the amount I paid and I got the 1/2 hood, front bumper, front fenders, mirrors (which don't produce any more wind noise that was stated elsewhere), under door handles and the rear bumper covered with the 3M product. Perhaps I could be the different manufacturers and technology that may make the difference in cost, or the installer or both, but I'm happy with my product and service that I got.

When I said 1/2 the hood I meant and the bumper, mirrors, etc. Meant to specify 1/2 hood vs full hood.

Got it. That makes more sense, and I highly recommend doing this.
