Glad everything went smoothly with pick up.
I also think it is ridiculous for the ES not to have power folding mirrors. If I would have noticed that the 2014 did not have power folder mirrors, I would not have purchased the vehicle. Even the crappy 2012 hyundai genesis had power folding mirrrors and the option to fold the mirrors was controlled by the key.

I have power folding mirrors on the LS. You can have mine if you want them lol.

Its a neat feature, but to say I wouldn't buy a car without them is a little strong IMHO.

Exactly! lol

When I had the GS, they omitted power folding mirrors on the 2013s, who knows why...brought them back on the 2014s. People were up in arms about it, looking for ways to add them, talking about trading? Power folding mirrors and a power trunk. The power trunk is just annoying, I could open and close the trunk 3 times in the time it takes it to open once! I don't get it.

Congrats on you car BTW! Glad it worked out, I was a little worried for you with the whole trade in first, etc. Post pics if you haven't!

heres a few from the dealer, I have since tinted the windows (5% rear/eyebrow, 30% front), leather conditioner, and put a coat of wax on.

Sharp! Love the color; and the Flaxen is great. My GS was a flaxen interior.

The sunshade in the garage is dedication! Drive it in good health!

If you notice the lower part is not chrome but more of a brushed aluminum. I am liking the front end more and more, but bugs definitely find a way in every corner, lol.

Had one on my 13. I don't drive the car much, maybe 2-3K miles a year. I leaned against the $500.00 the dealer wanted. My mom had her 14 S550 clear bra'd (entire hood/bumper) and after a year, you could see the blemishes, cuts from rocks, ect.

I'm okay with a little touch up paint that the dealer is sending me,

Wasn't there something about self-healing paint on the new models as well?

I believe that you are correct about the self-healing paint, but, from reading some of the Lexus PR documents, I believe that the self-healing paint is designed to work to "heal" things like the small surface scratches that might be caused by fingernails around the door handles or the shallow scratches that can result from using a car wash. I don't believe that it will heal/fix damage like stone nicks. In fact, it may well be the case that the self-healing paint could be more susceptible to stone nicks because it is softer than other paint, and, if a scratch goes deeper than the clear coat, that won't "heal" either.

Lexus has been using self-healing paint for several years on some models, including the LS. I don't know whether the evolution of the process has resulted in improvements in the current versions of self-healing paint, but here is a link to an article about it from a few years ago.

According the official Lexus announcement for the 2016 ES, it does have self-healing paint.

https://lexusenthusiast.com/2015/04/...ampaign=buffer

In the last paragraph in the section "An Elegant Dynamic New Look", it says
"Four new exterior colors join the ES palette: Amber, Nightfall Mica, Caviar, and Eminent White Pearl. Like the six existing choices, each features Lexus’ innovative cutting-edge paint technology designed to allow the paint’s clear coat to heal itself even from light damage."

Also, on page 408 of the 2016 ES owner's manual, it says
"■ Self-restoring coat
The vehicle body has a self-restoring coating that is resistant to small surface scratches
caused in a car wash etc.
● The coating lasts for 5 to 8 years from when the vehicle is delivered from the plant.
● The restoration time differs depending on the depth of the scratch and outside temperature.
The restoration time may become shorter when the coating is warmed by applying
warm water.
● Deep scratches caused by keys, coins, etc. cannot be restored.
● Do not use wax that contain abrasives."

The full manual can be downloaded here.
https://carmanuals2.com/get/lexus-es...s-manual-72665

Further, according to other threads on this board and what it says in the owner's manuals, there are several other Lexus models besides the ES and LS with the self-healing paint, including the RC, IS, GS,and NX. In fact, from viewing the owner's manuals for several current Lexus vehicles, it would appear that Lexus either is moving or has moved toward use of the self-healing paint across its vehicle lineup.

For example, page 396 of the IS350 owners manual says this.

"396
IS350/250_U (OM53C50U)
7-1. Maintenance and care

Self-restoring coat
The vehicle body has a self-restoring coating
that is resistant to
small surface scratches
caused in a car wash etc.

The coating lasts for 5 to 8 years from when
the vehicle is delivered from the plant.

The restoration time differs depending on the depth of the scratch and outside temper-
ature.
The restoration time may become shorter
when the coating is warmed by applying
warm water.

Deep scratches caused by keys,
coins, etc. cannot be restored.

Do not use wax that contain abrasives."

The manuals for the other current Lexus vehicles that I checked have similar statements.

Here are a couple of threads from this board that talk about the self-healing paint on other models, but there are others, too.
