Problem with lock acuator on 2013 es350

I had the same issue with the driver side door actuator on my 2013 ES350. My driver side door wouldn't lock/unlock with the key fob or from the outside/inside of the car. I had to go through the passenger side of the car and manually unlock the door. This happened in 2016. My car was just a couple of months out of warranty (I bought it new). Lexus quoted me $450, Toyota and a few local independent shops which service Lexus in my area quoted me around $400. I was going to go with the Toyota dealership, but the service rep from Lexus called me and said they would go ahead and waive the fee for the part and only charge labor (came out to be around $180). $500 seems a bit too much. Somewhere around the $400 range sounds reasonable. I'd get some quotes from your Toyota dealership and some independent mechanics.

Just FYI - the door lock actuator part # is 690400C050 and it retails for $270 online. So $400 total fix cost is reasonable. Lexuses break too, 50k is not exactly a new car.

I wonder if these actuators can be rebuilt. On my Prius it also had a common problem of the actuators going out. The problem was the small motors going out. The motors themselves cost <$20 and all you had to do was open the actuator casing and replace the motor. Looking on ebay i see a lot of es350 lock actuators for < $50. It looks like ebay sellers are just rebuilding them by replacing the motors. I would just buy it off ebay and DIY it or give it to a mechanic to fix.

500 miles out of warranty (50,513 miles) and my 2015 Crafted ES350 passenger door actuator failed. It was $300 to replace and it took my local mechanic 15 minutes to do it since he has done a ton of them. If was hoping to trade it in on a 2019 ES350 F-Sport before repairing it....but locking/unlocking the door manually from the inside became a pain. Its obvious that Lexus needs to purchase their actuators from a different supplier.....

Did you try taking it to Lexus? 500 miles out of warranty I bet they would have covered it
