I am also on iOS 9.2, when you say you kept the app running did you go off the app screen and check email or any other process or did you stay on the Pandora/Enform app screen? Also, I want to clarify that you are using Pandora through the Enform app on the iPhone and the app screen on the car.

This was an issue with one of the Enform updates. It has since been fixed. I don't drive my car, sometimes for a week, but Pandora starts right up without reopening the app on my Android. I have a 2013 with ML.
