Hi,
I bought a 2016 ES 350 last month. It was made at the Kentucky plant. The doors (especially the rear doors) require quite a solid push to close them, or they just come to within an inch or so of closing and don't close all the way. I have a RX 350 that doesn't have this issue, and have never had this with the many previous cars I've driven. Would be helpful to know if this is a problem with the production of my car in particular, or if the model is just like this. Can any 2016 ES 350 owners comment?
Thanks,
John

I too noticed this and assumed all ES cars are designed like this. Mine is made in Kentucky plant as well.
I'm not really sure this is a Kentucky plant problem. On my Japan-built ES, the doors have a nice solid thunk when closing, but it does require a good push. Later tonight, I'll check out the rear doors. (We just bought a minivan, so I'm the only one driving the ES now, so the rear doors don't get used that much!)
All Hybrids are still made in Japan
my 07 camry Hybrid was
my 2013 Avalon Hybrid was to and so is the ES300H, you know I hate to think its a better build but from my experience I would say there are
Get a hybrid you will love it plenty of power I will race any es350 might not beat it but you know I was there

Sounds like you need to adjust the door stoppers. Check around each door for 1 or more of these stoppers. If you are having trouble closing the doors, then you need to shorten the stoppers by turning them clock-wise. Here's a pic.

Many GS models had this problem.
The hinges were having lubrication problems.
Solution was to replace the hinges with new ones or modify the old hinges to be able to be lubricated more easily. I drilled holes in my 07 GS450h hinges, cleaned and lubricated them, and they work like new again. Where as before you had to close the door to within less than 2 inches
