Default Oil filter question

I just changed the oil for the first time myself on my 13 ES 350. I bought a Mann oil filter and used the large paper filter and large o-ring. There was also a smaller plastic filter looking piece and a small o-ring which I could not figure out where to use them. I gave up and threw them in the glove box. Did I miss something or are they just for a different vehicle???

Filter housing drain plug? Not sure if the ES has one. I haven't changed my own oil, yet.

The small "O" ring is for the removable filter housing drain plug on the bottom of the filter housing. When you change oil this cover can be removed with a 3/8 socket. A short piece of plastic hose is supplied and inserted to facilitate draining. This is so that the oil in the filter drains into a container. You can then spin off the filter housing w/o oil dripping down your arms. When you replace the small cover you should also replace the "O" ring around it's base.

For me, I don't remove the small drain plug, choosing instead to just loosen the larger filter housing and letting it drip into a container until it stops. I then just spin off the whole housing.
