What does the root consist of? My 128GB works well with having all the artist names in their own folders on the root. I don't know if it would work if you had, say, a folder called music and then folders with each artist.

For a test, try adding just some mp3 files to the root to see if it can see them.

I tried just straight mp3 and It was a no go, while we are on the subject can u use the **** in the middle to change songs and folders that's the reason I want to do this in the first place. I hate messing with my phone while driving

If by ****, you mean the mouse, yes. You can also change tracks by the steering wheel buttons.

You are selecting "USB" on the menu, correct?

Where did the files come from if you didn't create them yourself? Just thinking it may be a DRM thing, like if they came from iTunes.
