Default DIY oil change.

I've been wanting to change my oil on my 2013 ES 350, but I'm having a hard time figuring out if i need any special tools for the top. I've also tried looking on youtube, but those are older models unless its all the same. Thanks.

You do not require any special tools to change your oil. You can remove the oil canister two ways: There is a small fitting in the bottom of the canister that allows you to drain the filter holder before removing it. All that is required is a 3/8" socket wrench and the tube that comes with your new filter cartridge. The other way is just to loosen the entire cartridge holder w/o draining first and let it drip until empty. All that requires is any filter wrench or - I use the cup type that fits over the fluted bottom of the holder to spin it off. I bought mine at Harbor Freight for about $5.00. Remove the canister, remove the cartridge, place the new one inside, replace the large "O" ring and moisten it with oil before attaching the canister back onto the threads. Spin the canister on until it seats. There are youtube videos on this for the Avalon which is the same engine you have since 2006. Takes about 15 minutes and cost about $35.00. To refill the oil I use a small funnel which works perfectly.
