GPS and FW updates?
How do I get updates to the GPS maps? Is there a way to "teach" the GPS a preferred route? In getting to the 101 freeway we take a direct route to the on ramp. The GPS continually wants to go to an arterial even though there are often "bread crumbs" on our route marked on the display. Further the GPS lady mispronounces our street name: Webster as Weeebster. Is there a way to hack the GPS?
When we had our 10K service I looked over the service order and asked why the firmware (FW) had not been updated on all the car systems. The Service rep looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language. He scurried around and said they would mark the record for a FW update at next service. Anyone ever had a routine FW update? Does it cost? Does it change any operating characteristics that are noticeable? Given the rate of SW and FW updates on my home computer and the number of computers in the car, it seems Lexus should be updating regularly without having to be asked.
