Nasty smell from AC

It could be mold on or under your interior carpet lining from moisture or flooding that dried up before you noticed, in which case you’ll have to end up probably replacing the carpets like everyone else in the other AC/sunroof clog thread.

Do you have carpet or all weather mats? If you have all weather mats it’s much harder to notice the moisture underneath if the flooding isn’t severe but enough to cause mold and the musty smell.

Nope. I was the evaporator. Now I use the Toyota AC cleaner every year and that seems to have solved the problem.
