I actually like the blacked out trim, I saw a used GS350 on a dealers lot in nebula grey with all the chrome blacked out and I thought it looked awesome, provided its done right.

My issue with the plastidip is that it winds up looking like unpainted plastic, and unpainted plastic trim in places like that is what you see on base model Corollas or Honda Civics, it just looks out of place on a Lexus IMHO.

If you like the black look, I would encourage you to do something that looks a little more professional, and befits a car of that caliber...I would vinyl wrap or paint the trim. A glossy vinyl wrap (which is what was on that GS) looks factory, and its a worthy mod for such a nice car.

Leave the plastidip to Corollas.

I completely agree with your sentiment and would never suggest otherwise, but I thought you were asking for opinions. Your post said "thoughts?" with a question mark, so it led some of us to believe you wanted our thoughts on your mod. Thank you for clarifying that.

At the time I only had dip handy, but in the future I will definitely wrap it. Your right it does belong on those cars and not a Lexus, which is why I did it tastefully and not all around making it look tacky and cheap.

Looks pretty good. I bet it would look even better though if you painted it the same color as your car. But I agree I dont care for the chrome they decided to put on that molding, looks like a unibrow

Would a bottle of touch up paint cover that?

+1 I think it looks really good, would look better wrapped IMHO to match the gloss of the paint.

Looking mean brother! I'm considering doing chrome delete as well! That's what I love about dip is that it's not permanent.

That looks pretty good! As long as it's classy, I think modding an ES is just fine.

The ES is actually an insanely boring car. Very powerful, reliable and smooth, but VERY boring. What's the point of a forum if we can't customize it? Our cars are not that old yet where all we talk about are repairs and problems.

The majority if ES owners probably don't even go to an online forum -you have to automatically assume that ANY online community will be unique and wants their product to be unique.

Well I got many mixed reviews mainly positive! Well I changed the color a while ago. I got bored of black and the edges were fully dipped wd40 worked wonders. Now it is gunmetal grey with 6 coats.
