Yet another tire thread
Been lurking for quite a while. Appreciate the activity on the forum here and helped me make the decision to follow through picking up a CPO 2014 Lexus ES 350.
Spent numerous hours reading the tire/road noise threads. Nothing seems to be mentioned about adjusting the tire size/profile on the standard 18x7.5 rim.
I wish I had swapped for the 17" rims at the dealer when negotiating the price but now I'm realizing I would have been better off with them rather than the rather nice looking 18" that come with the UL package.
Has anyone opted for larger tires on this rim size. Per tire rack (I haven't look to see if there would be any interference with steering/components) it looks as if the 235/45R18 would fit. It would add nearly 1/4 inch of side wall which would reduce road impact for comfort (but maybe the wider tread patter would generate more noise?). The 235/50R18 would add half inch of side wall but may look wonky or rub on on inner tire well?
I am looking for a softer, quieter ride. Currently running 2 year old MXM4 tires with 26k miles on them (which means they are getting loud as they age).
Thanks in advance for the replies.
Cheers
