I was asking based on the comments immediately prior to my question.

I see some further down the page, but they are not like the ES seats. You can get an idea though of what the suggested mod is. :-)

My apologies. Somehow I completely missed that comment.

I can't speak to the new RX which is a new generation and could easily be different. The only difference with the 2016 NX is that I can hear the fan and I'm not even sure the last gen RX or 2015 ES even have fans for circulating the "cooled" air into the seats. Unfortunately, everything is a bit noisier in the NX so it's either noisier fan equipment or it has a fan neither of the other models have. Regardless, I still can't tell any difference in the cooling effect between those particular models.

Anything specific to be aware of when shopping for cars with this option? Thanks for any and all input.
For me, the feature definitely helps, especially having black leather seats in a hot climate. I know that the air being blown is not directly cooled. however, in hot weather, you probably are going to run your AC as well, and so the air being blown through the seat has been air conditioned.
For me, I still run the interior AC, but the cooled seats helps quite a bit. Makes the difference between having and not having sweaty, stick to the seat legs and back. The air is just enough to prevent that sweaty/stickiness.
I only use it on the hotter summer days. On medium days, I actually feel chilly with the cooled seat option on!

I did a version of the milk container mod using a piece of cardboard that I just folded the edges and positioned it to catch the a/c air from the under-seat duct and direct it toward the seat to be pulled through the sent ventilation fan. Then you set the a/c vent setting to blow through the front vents and the floor vents. Works great and really makes the seat cooler in the hot weather. We'll call it "almost cooled seats".

as far as cooling goes, I agree with whoever said "nice to have" but not a "need to have" option. I live in Louisiana where it is "hot" for a large part of the year and I will tell you "they help" a bit with keeping you cool, but I wouldn't pay extra just for that feature... Now I will tell you that I just got back from the midwest where we had a couple of nights in the upper 20's and mid 30's... and the heat option on the seats was nice.... without a coat on, from the backs of my legs to my mid back was nice and toasty.... I really like the heated seat option.

Glad to hear it worked out.

Mine seems to blow more on the back than on the seat - where I would prefer it. It s the same on both the driver and passenger seat. Any chance that you can redirect the air?
