Even with the $1000 increase, $23,000 for a 2013 ES UL is still a fairly good price.

If you had mentioned something about the windshield earlier, I missed it, but, if the windshield needed to be replaced, with the electronics needed for the rain sensing wipers, wiper heaters, etc., that is an expensive repair. Replacing the windshield on the ES is likely costing the dealer more than the $1000 of the price increase, and, if they are using a genuine Lexus windshield, it will cost them quite a bit more than that.

That's been my thought as well. I think I'm going to go back to them and make the offer they wanted, but they eat the doc fee, and replace it with a Lexus windshield by an approved dealer/vendor.

To put the price that is now being offered to you in perspective, just a couple of months ago, the Lexus dealer gave me somewhat more than the $23,000 that you are being offered for the trade-in of my 2013 ES, which only had the Luxury package. To be sure, my ES was in perfect condition. It only had 25,000 miles on it, and the dealer knew that they could sell it as a CPO vehicle, but still, if you can buy an UL ES for less than what I got for my trade-in, that does make it seem like you are getting a decent offer.

With regard to the windshield, you might want to do a search here to look for threads in which people have discussed their windshield replacements. You will find multiple posts from people who, after having had a windshield replacement with non-OEM glass, had problems with getting things like the rain sensing wipers or wiper heater to work properly. Especially, since you would be buying this car without any warranty, I would think that you would want to make sure that the windshield replacement was properly done.
