10,000 mile service issues

Thanks Dave Mac you're always been helpful on this forum. Definitely something I have to mentally get used to...harm to the wallet isn't worth if it's not going to do anything practical to protect my engine.
Thinking about 10,000 miles oil changes takes some adjustment - I remember when there were 1,000 and then 3,000 mile oil changes - but I would feel confident with the 10K recommendation. There is a range on the free 10K service but I'm not sure it goes town to 7,500 miles unless you are near 12 months. My son has a Denali and a Honda Accord and I don't believe either of them has a recommended change - they just tell you, and it seems to be around 6,500 of city driving.
On the other hand 7,500 miles oil changes would never do any harm except maybe to your wallet and the oil supply..

I change the oil in my car myself. Going with the 10k schedule using pure synthetic, the oil was so clean that I had trouble reading it on the dipstick. I don't believe that the engineers at Toyota would recommend an interval for oil change that would be harmful to your engine. If they recommend a 10k - one year schedule, I'm going with that because I believe they're a lot smarter than me as far as engine wear. Yes you can change your oil sooner but it would be wasteful. Comparable to using 93 octane in your ES350/300 when it calls for 87...
