Brent, yes, the 17's are a bit smoother riding. When I was shopping for my ES, I test drove one off the lot, it had 17's on it.. really liked the ride.. but I ended up buying my ES off the showroom floor never having driven it. It has 18's on it. 2 miles down the road away from the dealership I thought to myself, what have I done? The ride was considerably rougher than the car I test drove.... not only did the 18's not ride as soft as the 17's, but the tires were inflated to over 40lbs each... lowered them down to 32 lbs and the ride improved... but another reason the car didn't ride as smoothlyas I wanted was those dreaded bridgeston turanza's.... just recently replaced them with a set of Perelli's and much much better. I kind of got away from your point there, even with correct air pressure and really smooth riding tires like the perelli's, the 18's do ride a little rougher than the 17's... it's not terrible by any means, and personally I like the look of the stance on the 18's.. just personal preference.

So if you're about to get bigger tires than stock or already have them installed, it's time to calculate your true MPH. Your speedometer is reading how many revolutions your tires are making not how fast they are spinning. When you go to bigger tires the circumference of the tires is larger, meaning the distance around the tire is longer. Thus, with each revolution you are traveling further than before. Therefore your actual speed is higher than your speedometer reads. Or lower if you have gone with a smaller tire than stock.

Brent, in my opinion you are much better off with the Michelins, so glad that's what you have on your car. Welll.. my dad is picking up a 2014 Avalon hybrid for work. I've seen the wheels on it. They are very nice and they belong on a Lexus not a Avalon so I already called dibs on the wheels. My car is a 2016 and I have the optional 17 inch wheels I've grown to like them but they would still not be my first choice. The Avalon wheels are also 17 inch so ride shouldn't change, but that depends on the tires the car comes with. These are the wheels and they are very Lexus like. Well now I finally can get wheels I like for free
