Lexus ES 300h or pickup truck?

I know the subject is slightly ridiculous to any Lexus lover (I love my CT 200h!), but my husband is actually considering whether or not to trade his 2014 ES (paid for) for a pickup. His reasons: he doesn't "drive" the car all that much; he has a 13 yr. old van that he drives to his hobby farm a few times a week; he thinks he should cut himself back to 1 vehicle only and just have the new truck. Silly me, I suggested that he trade in the van (100K miles plus) for a new truck and keep his beautiful car--he does drive the car more frequently than he thinks, and every time he's behind the wheel, he says how much he loves it, how elegant it is, etc. He is literally racked with indecision, and I do mean racked. Is it just me, or is he talking crazy talk?

but reading the situation, i think he should go for a nice ford f150 or a tundra/tacoma if needing smaller and get rid of both like he says, given that he is fine with the associated upkeep costs of daily driving a big truck.
cuz srsly, true man drives a truck.
unfrotunately, im too cheap...

You will never know how many "friends" you have until you own a Pick 'em Up Truck!

I think he just wants something new and shiny. Cheaper option - get him a gigantic 4K TV instead ![Wink](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
I'm an ES hybrid driver, I also drive a pickup for work sometimes and there's no way I would get rid of the ES for a pickup. The ES is smooth, quiet, with a very comfy and spacious interior; the pickup has none of those things. The latter is great for bouncing along rough trails and carrying junk though. I can't wait to get back in the ES after a long drive in the pickup.

A lot of these modern trucks are very luxurious, nice riding, quiet. My business partner traded his GS350 in on a Ram Truck. It’s really nice. Would I have done that? No but he’s happy.
Your husband and should go drive a nice loaded up F150 Platinum crew cab, I think you will both be surprised by how he really can have the best of both worlds.

I just bought a 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport 4x4 as my “weekend / chore” vehicle, but kept my (paid for) 2013 Lexus ES300h as my daily driver. I was seriously considering trading in the ES for a SUV (RX or Audi Q5), but then realized I could keep the ES and add the Tacoma for about the same price as the RX or Q5 (after trading the ES) I was looking at.
If he is considering a truck, but doesn’t need full-size, the Tacoma is fantastic (keeping in mind, it’s a truck), and the resale value is shockingly great. The new Honda Ridgeline is another interesting / mid-size option. Drives more like a SUV, which makes sense since it’s basically a Honda Pilot with a truck bed. Super quiet as well.

I had my new LS in today to have the clear bra put on, and rented a small car from Enterprise for the day. Coincidentally enough all they had was a crew cab Ram truck LOL.
I put a lot of miles on it as I had a full, geographically challenged day, about 220 miles. This was a very low optioned truck, cloth seats, no nav, no backup camera or other driving aids, etc. Rode very well, Hemi has plenty of pep. Quiet.
Its BIG though, wow. I would recommend the short bed if getting a crew cab.
