Default 6 months old ES350 and cracked Windshield

Hi all,

Just have my first cracked windshield today for driving more that 30 years. And that's on a 6-months old 2017 ES350.

Anyway, if Safelite OK to use since this is what the insurance uses. I will insist on replacing it with OEM Lexus parts since I have the rader camera and rain sensor.
Anyone has a good recommendation for me to go to in the San Francisco Bay area, particularly East or South bay?

Thanks in advance.

No real advice on a location other than to avoid Safelite. I used them once and they caused extensive damage to my car and then called me names and refused to pay to have it fixed. There are lots of other similar stories about Safelite on here.

If it is a LFS lease be sure to replace with OEM glass or face a possible charge back.
We used non-OEM glass in a 1999 Solara and it was always much noisier than before.
Didn't leak water or air but just always sounded as if a window was open.

Personally I would not use Satellite or any type of transportable service to replace a windshield. I would just take it into the shop.

I agree 100%. It has been years since I've had to replace a windshield (knock on wood), but, after a bad experience, a number of years ago, with a transportable service that resulted in paint damage to the vehicle, I decided that, if I had need for a windshield replacement in future, I would only have it done in the shop.

Thanks for all the advice. I will call the insurance and demand dealer glass and go to the shop that the local dealers uses on installation. My comprehensive deductible is only $50. hopefully the insurance company will not give me a hard time.

They will resist. Stick to your guns, they'll fold.

Finally the cracked windshield was replaced today.
insurance company approved OEM replacement without question but had to wait 2.5 weeks for the windshield from dealer.

BTW, the windshield was replaced by a local shop where the local Lexus dealer recommended and uses.

Does the glass have the Lexus Logo on it?
