Default Oil filter part #

I stopped at a Toyota dealer today to buy an oil filter for my Lexus V6 engine. The agent wanted a VIN so I told him its for a Lexus and he wouldn't sell me a filter. Says he's not allowed to sell parts for a Lexus. So, can someone that orders filters tell me what the part number is for the oil filter that goes with our V6 3.5L engine? Same one that's in the Camry V6... Also where to buy at the best price online. TIA

04152-YZZA1 It's just labeled Toyota. I'm not sure where the best place to buy. I bought at Lexus for $12, which I will never do again.

This is correct. I've been using this to change my car. I buy in bulk of 10

I tried to place an order and for one filter at my L parts and they charge $4.38 + $11.39 shipping. I don't think so... What a rip...

It is hard for me to understand how the parts department at a Toyota dealer can refuse to sell you a Toyota part, regardless of what vehicle you want to use it on.

If, instead of telling them that you want to use the part on a Lexus, it seems to that, if you just tell them the Toyota part number, you would likely be able to buy the part there.

It is also curious how the policies of Toyota dealers seem to vary from one Toyota dealer to another. My Toyota dealer seems to welcome Lexus owners for both parts and services. But I occasionally read a post here in which people say that a Toyota dealer won't service their Lexus vehicles. I suspect that, in some cases, if a Toyota dealer and a Lexus dealer share the same ownership, they might be trying to drive business to Lexus dealer (where the prices are likely to be higher). But it is still hard for me to understand how they can legally refuse even to sell you a part.

It's $7.50 on Amazon with free shipping. I do find it funny that they say it doesn't fit my ES, though.

The parts man asked me for a VIN after I asked him for an oil filter for a V6 Camry. Obviously I couldn't provide one so I told him it was for my 3.5L Lexus engine. He then stated that by Toyota's rules he couldn't sell me a Toyota part for a Lexus. If I had the part number in the first place I could just order it. This same dealer would charge me $59.99 for a synthetic oil change @ 7 quarts + filter, or $20.00 if I bring my own... Go figure...

I agree, shouldn't matter whatever you want to use it for, airplane, lawn mower, etc. shouldn't matter.

Is the Toyota store owned by the same group that owns the local Lexus store?

My Toyota dealer was happy to change the wipers on my Lexus (at a price of 10 bucks). They have said they would be happy to do any maintenance I want on my ES.

Next time you want the filter just walk in and say you need a filter for a Camry V6 or an Avalon. Forget about giving them the VIN number...no reason at all why they need that. If pushed tell them you are buying it for a friend vehicle

Go to Autotrader.com or a similar site and pick a random Avalon or Camry V6 and grab a VIN to satisfy the parts guy. You could even do it on your phone at the parts counter
I have never tried buying parts at the local Toyota dealer (same owner as Lexus) but they have changed my oil a few times without questions.

FWIW As part of my last Toyota oil change, the filter was $5.41 and the gasket was $1.31. Local sales tax not included.
