I do realize that DIY is not for everyone but I would do all possible to ensure that I wasn't getting oil from Moe's Oil Depot in Podunk Iowa... (nothing personal to those from Iowa)... Using premium full synthetic name brand high quality oil puts my mind at ease on a 10k OIC.

Correction: I had a free change by the dealer under new car warranty...
I was surprised when my local Lexus Service manager told me if one comes in and buys oil they get Toyota synthetic made by Mobil. When they are changing oil they use drums and told me the name which I can not remember but certainly not a well known brand. My first two free oil changes, I bring in my own Mobil 1.

As I haven't had my first complimentary change yet (7 months ownership, 3200 miles) and am working with a different dealer, I am not sure what type of oil they use for their changes but considering the car is under warranty I don't have a problem using their oil whatever it is. I did receive a call from them last week wondering where I was on my mileage and when I told them where I was they said it was ok to wait until 5k or one year. I plan on doing that although I'll probably hit a year before I hit the mileage!

Just to be clear, the 5k service is not an oil change, its only a tire rotation.

Thank you - I was not aware of that. I'll have to look at my dealer's inclusions to make sure it's even worth the trip if that's all it is. He's an hour and a half away.

If you are at 7 months now.......wait until 1 year and do the 10K service which will include the oil change etc. The 5K mile service is basically just a tire rotation and safety check. If you are a low mileage driver, you don't go by mileage but time. For example, the first oil change is 1 year OR 10K miles, whichever comes first. I did my first oil change at 12 months and 4500 miles. After that, I would consider at Toyota dealer closer then the 1.5 hours to your Lexus dealer and save that trip if/when you need warranty work. After first oil change, probably not worth the travel time to the Lexus dealer for regular maintenance.

The 5k is also when the dealer will do any "dealer only" type customization's for free. I had the lane change blinker extended at my 5k service. Not sure if they'll honor it at the 10k.

You can’t make that change in the menu?

On both the 2013 ES that I owned and the 2017 ES that I now have, the first service that I did was the 10,000 mile service at a little less than a year of ownership, and they did do the "dealer only" customizations.

On the Generation 6 ES, the number of lane change blinks is a "dealer only" setting.

Interesting. On my GS and both LS's I could make that change from the menu...

Not sure about the LS, but the GS was not that simple: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...e-blinker.html

I changed mine from 3 to the next one up 5 or 6 and it's much better now. I saw it when I was reviewing all the menus with my Techstream. There were 3 choice default was the first one at 3.
