Default Time vs Mileage for oil change intervals (Warranty question)

This is primarily a warranty related question. The warranty states that failure to maintain fluids at manufacturer recommended specifications may result in non-coverage of affected equipment. My understanding is that for this car (2016 ES 350) the recommended interval is 10,000 miles or 6 months. The time part I'm not sure about and I don't know where exactly to look for this answer in writing from Lexus. With that said, suppose 6 months go by and I've only driven 3,000 miles. Would I then be required to change the oil at 6 months, otherwise risk coverage by warranty? A reasonable person would say that it would be ok to go longer with so few miles, but I would imagine that dealing with a Warranty administrator is not always the same as dealing with a reasonable person since they will probably be looking for any reason/excuse to say you're not covered if they can legally.

If you read the scheduled maintenance section regarding oil changes, you will see that your oil should be changed after one year or 10k miles. If you drive only 7500 miles after 12 months the oil should be changed. If you drive 10k miles in 8 months the oil should be changed at 8 months... Your car uses full synthetic oil and can easily do one year or 10k miles...
And you do not have to take it back to the dealer for oil changes or any other maintenance items if you wish to save money... Your warranty will be intact... Check out this link regarding using other than dealers for service and maintaining your new car warranty:

Not sure what year they switched over, but mine is a 2013 and the recommended oil change is now 10K, however I change mine at 5K... and also, to the OP, as bc said, you don't have to take your car to the dealer for oil changes.. but I would make sure and keep any receipts you get from where ever you do take it for an oil change. always nice to have documentation showing that not only did you have the oil and filter changed, but also the date and the mileage....
