Also, what color is the route trace? Is it the red dots? Is it something else?

On my 2018 ES, it seems that when I'm on the freeway, the screen will sometimes split in half, vertically. And on the right hand side, it will tell me some info about upcoming exits (even if I'm not going to be taking them).
Sometimes, it will also have dining and ATM ($ icon) next to the upcoming exits.
What information is it trying to tell me? Can this setting be adjusted? I don't like having the map split in half. I'd rather see as much of the map as possible.
My 2013 ES didn't do this.

I'll have to see if the "Freeway Exit List" is somehow activated, the next time I'm on the freeway. It's been several weeks since I've been on the freeway.
The next time I am, I'll see if it's activated, and if I can tell it to do Map Mode only then.
I've had "Map Only" selected for a few months.

I don't do much of my driving on limited access highways, either, but, a couple of days ago, when I was driving on one, my curiosity led me to check the navigation menu. When you are actually on such a road, the "freeway exit list" is no longer grayed out, and, if you click on the "full screen" option when the "freeway exit list" is not grayed out, the list of exits will be removed from the map screen.

I happened to go on the freeway on Saturday, and noticed that the freeway exit list was no longer grayed out too. I then selected Full Screen, as you suggested.
Perhaps I will enable it if driving on a limited access freeway in the future. But for most of my driving, when I'm on the freeway, it's usually on a normal one with plenty of entry and exit points. I just wanted to have it off my default.
Thanks.

Also, I usually have the map scale set to the 2nd to smallest one, which I think is 300 feet.

I don't use the route trace function, so it's been awhile, but I recall it leaving white dots on the path.

It lays down red dots. If you reverse the same route to get back to the place from which you started, it will lay down a second set of red dots in between the initial red dots.
