Make an appointment, or just drive in and ask for a rotation.

Some folks prefer the convenience and peace of mind of getting it done at the dealership and that's fine, but once you cross over to doing some basic maintenance on your own, you realize the amount of money the dealership's been asking for basic things like an oil change and tire rotation is a bit much. For example a 5 qt jug of Mobil 1 or Pennzoil 0W-20 oil runs about $25 - $30. Add another 2 qts since the ES takes about 6.4 qts and still you're at $35 - $40. Couple this with a high end $12 Mobil 1 filter and your cost is about $47 - $52 for an oil change. Invest $125 or so in a battery powered impact wrench and tire rotations are easy peasy (or it's free at discount tire once the OEM tires are replaced)
At Costco, 6 quarts are $38 (I'd buy in-store to save on shipping).

I would have to buy a 2nd 6-pack to get the remaining 0.4 quarts.

Thanks. According to their website, Discount Tires are called Americas Tire Company in my area.

I'll try that next time (when it's not complimentary by Lexus).

Since the Toyota dealer added on BS service the last time I tried them, which made it more expensive than Lexus, I'll be trying the Lexus dealer again next time. But I'll compare prices across two dealerships, and I'll also bring my own oil.

Do I have to buy a certain kind of oil filter? If I buy Mobil 1 from Costco.

The Toyota dealer also wasn't much cheaper than the Lexus dealer, when I called for the prices, before they added on the BS charges. It was only a little bit.

Places generally only rotate tires for free if you buy your tires at their store.

That makes sense, but @Mike728 says they'll do it anyways. It doesn't hurt for me to ask. Or at worst, find out how much they charge.

Right, but not Discount Tire. They also patch for free. It was enough to get me to buy tires from them a year later.

Interesting business model...I live in Canada and there's no place here that will rotate for free or patch for free for people who have not purchased tires there.

Of course, I am sure we all agree no point going to those kind of places that offer "free" brake or transmission inspections. Wonder if they still do that...sure thing inspect my transmission for free and then wait for the bad news on how much work you will need.....
