Default Prevention of cycling through the App Suite.

I downloaded the Lexus App Suite last week. Now when I hit the radio button, it will cycle through the app suite along with AM, FM, satellite, CD, and external source.

The same thing happens when I hit the Mode button on the steering wheel.

How do I stop it from cycling through the App Suite?

What do you mean? It constantly cycles on its own, or it's one of the sources that's now available?

Sorry I wasn't clear.

I want it to stop cycling through the App Suite.

Before I downloaded App Suite on my phone last week, when I hit the Radio button, it would cycle through FM presets, AM presets, Sirius XM presets; CD; Auxiliary source.

Now, it's added the app suite to this cycle list. But I don't have most of those apps configured (Pandora, Slacker, etc.), nor do I want to configure them.

I want to stop those apps from being part of the cycle list.

The same thing happens when I hit "Mode" on the steering wheel. It cycles through those audio sources, as well as the app suite.

I've never noticed this. I usually just select the source directly. I'm guessing that you would need to sign out of the app, if it's really bothering you.

I was thinking the same thing. I never even noticed that repeatedly pressing the radio button results in cycling through all of the apps in the Enform App Suite because, to me, the easiest way to select a new source has been to push the radio button once and, then, to select the source directly with the mouse.

As an alternate way to change sources, for those with a Generation 9 navigation system (2017 and 2018 ES), using voice commands to select the source works well (and much better than it did with the 2013-2016 ES with Generation 7 and Generation 8 navigation systems).

I'll try the voice commands and see how it goes.

To me, I like hitting the Radio button, or the Mode button on the wheel, because it's less distracting. Before it started cycling through the app suite, I knew how many pushes it would take to go through the AM/FM/SAT/CD/AUX cycle.

I knew how many it would take to get from one spot to the next. I didn't have to think as much.

Now that there's a bunch of apps added, I can't cycle through. As soon as the cycle hits one of the apps, it tells me that the app isn't configured. Since I don't plan on configuring the apps, that's why I asked if it was possible to remove them from the cycle.

While in general, I like the Lexus mouse system, compared to the way other car manufacturers have set up their controls, I still do want to use it less if possible. So glancing to see where exactly the audio source is, is more distracting, compared to the way I had done it before (hitting the radio button a few times).

I've been wondering about this idea.

When my phone is off, then hitting the radio button still cycles through the App Suite. Do you think there's a difference between my phone being off, and logging out?

Ok, I tried logging out. It does the same thing and cycles through the app suite.

It almost seems that once the Lexus app suite is installed on the car, then it has to cycle through those apps.

I guess I'll try calling Lexus to see if they have an answer to stop it from cycling through the apps.

I never installed the app suite on my 2013 ES, and hadn't done it on the 2018 ES until a little over a week ago. So I've spent years comfortable with cycling through by using the Radio or Mode buttons, and not having it go through additional Apps (Pandora, Slacker, iHeart Radio).

I had a long call with the Lexus customer service.

The representative checked with both an in-house tech, and called a technology specialist at a dealer.

They confirmed that there was no way to remove specific apps.

Their suggestion, which they weren't sure was going to work, was to uninstall the app suite from my phone. They said that when the car starts, and connects via bluetooth, it checks for the app suite.

So, I uninstalled the app suite.

It didn't really change anything. The only thing that changed is that instead of getting an error message, when cycling through the Radio button, about Pandora not being configured correctly, it now says that the application must be running on my phone.

They also said that if this doesn't work, then to try visiting a technology specialist at a dealer, and maybe they can do something.

I hope so. But if I visit a dealer, I'll make sure I make an appointment in advance, and explain the situation. So they can have time to research things and try things.

Before ending the call, I made a suggestion to allow specific apps in the app suite to be disabled or hidden.

I thought about it this way. There's 12 apps now. The tendency for these types of suites, is to add more apps. So what happens when there's 16 or 20 apps? Many of which people don't really want? Are people going to have to scroll through more apps? Having a way to hide some of these should be possible.

I also see there's an email address: LexusMobileSupportTeam@lexus.com

I'll try emailing them and see if they have any suggestions.

The 2.0 version of the app suite does have the ability to disable specific apps within the suite. Lexus doesn't seem to want to add features to the old suite at all, even though most of their new cars still use it.
As for your issue, deleting personal data might fix it, so long as the app is no longer on your phone when you re-pair it. I know that's a pain if you have a lot of stuff saved.

In the infotainment: Settings>general>delete personal data
It will un-pair any phones, lose radio presets, favorite contacts, and lose any saved address.

This is what the Technology Specialist at another dealer recommended too. To delete personal data.

For saved addresses, does that mean the "Go Home" other preset destinations?

What about previous destinations in my destination history?

I thought there was a separate menu for only deleting previous destinations:

(See Page 152)

https://drivers.lexus.com/t3Portal/d...f/OM33B43U.pdf

But then if I go to page 73 in the link above to delete personal data, it says:

+++++++++++++++++++

Registered or changed personal settings will be deleted or returned to their default conditions. For example:

•General settings
• Navigation settings
• Audio settings
•Phone settings
•Lexus Enform setting

++++++++++++++++++++

The Enform Setting is probably what I'm hoping will be restored.

What are Audio Settings, other than radio presets? Does it include equalizer settings in the DSP?

Yes, saved home, previous destinations, radio presets, equalizer levels, etc. would go, sorry.

Ok. Not too bad. I'll do it at a time when I can immediately set those things again.
