Default What to look for when buying a used ES?

Hi all. Been lurking for a while and decided to try the lexus products out. Going to pick up a 2013 ES one owner that was VERY well maintained by the owner. Impeccable service records.

Now with that being said, what are the Hotspots to look for, if there are any? Mechanically and or cosmetically.

Here's the vehicle if anyone wants to take a peak.

Thanks!

First thing that caught me eye was "Maintenance Required" on the center display..

Flies in the face of 'Impeccable service records'.

Such an easy reset it makes me wonder.?.?

Maybe it being at a non lexus dealership they didn't know how? Or possibly it had not been maintained yet and they just snapped pictures. Good catch but just my two cents

Looking to buy a used Lexus would be the same if you were buying a Jeep. You would just want to see a clean unmolested body, mileage comparable or lower than it's years, a service record if available, and have it checked by someone you trust. Ideally with some factory warranty left, and overall the car looks and smells good... No hotspots that come to mind after 6 years of ownership and being on this forum for the same time. No car after 6 years of use is perfect. Usually there are dings and scratches, but one can live with that if everything else looks good.

GOOD LUCK!

Did you see the ProView report link inside the CarFax report?

Yes looked at it in depth. Seems like it's not from a wreck. Maybe swiped something. No structural damage is what it seems. Not looking for perfection in a '13 with 125k for 12 grand (that's what I'm buying it for). So I'm OK if the paint isn't perfectly matched as long as there was no structural damage.

Based on the Lexus owners site all the service work has been done and on time. Owner was religious about taking it to Lexus of Mobile to have the work done. At 91,000 miles and 2/17 the battery was replaced. J D Power ranks Lexus #1 in reliability for seven years in a row. The ES is #1 in the premium mid size category. Lexus is the third least expensive model to maintain.

Too many miles, keep looking. Plenty of ES350s out there and with the new model the prices should be falling.

I bought my 07 LS from an 85 yr old client last fall. On the service records there were several times when they worked on the bumpers. I asked her, and she had scrapped pillars in a tight parking garage she frequents. So maybe the ES had a similar experience.
