Default Penny in console outlet

Hey guys,

I’m new to the forums but I’ve read a bit first. I bought a 2013 ES300h. The only issue of note was a penny in the cigarette lighter outlet in the center console. I removed the penny, however, the outlet doesn’t work. I assume this is a 15 amp fuse under the dash, but I couldn’t figure out which one it would be. I pulled a few that I thought may be the one, but they all looked fine. I haven’t seen tiny fuses like that before so I don’t know if they tend to look burnt when they fail or not.

The onky other issue with the car is that sometimes the AC makes a noise that almost sounds like a helicopter in the distance. Like a rythmic thumping sound. My first thought was something was getting caught in the fan. But it is very rare to make that noise and I haven’t been able to replicate it recently. Is that normal for it to make any sort of noise? Perhaps I’m being overly sensitive about it since it’s a new car to me.

Check Fuse 16 & 35 they are for the 2 power ports on the 2013 ES300h. They are 15 amp fuses, replace with the same. This information is on page 720 of your owners manual.

The penny in the outlet itself may have shorted the outlet as the penny would conduct voltage. Pop the outlet out and see if any of the wiring is damage, or possibly an internal fuse.

That worked, thank you! I was pulling the wrong fuse. I was pulling 16, but not 35. Thank you so much, man!
