ordered a lot of crap online for my newly acquired 2015 es.
got some energy to get some work done over the weekend:
First, finally took a pic of my new ride. 2015 es 350 in deep sea mica (some dark blue):
As you can see, my drive way is pretty narrow, so being a little careless means a scrap on door edges. Specially in the lexus ES as the doors open way wider than anything else i've had so far.
When you order these "door edge guards" from lexus, they come with no instructions at all. you can download the instructions by searching "lexus es door edge guard manual". i don't remember the link, but you need to print the last 4 pages which have the TEMPLATES for the doors.
then you gotta go "kindergarten" mode and.......yeah cut each template...............
The edge guards themselves were color matched perfectly from factory and are made of METAL, very good quality.
not hard at all, just requires PATIENCE.
the manual recommends a rubber mallet to install this, i didn't have one. so i wrapped a regular hammer with a microfiber towel and CAREFULLY banged the edge guard on each door.
And last, some Lamin-X yellow fog light covers. these are dumb easy to install:
Bonus:
i failed Miserably at installing an OEM replica spoiler from ebay. Need to order double sided tape from amazon and will give it another go this weekend.
You gotta be very careful hitting against the edge of a panel. Paint chips off easily at the edge as the edge is hard, doesn’t flex. So the paint gives in first.
Bolt that spoiler to the trunk. it obviously requires drilling 2 holes in the top of trunk, very easy, just measure carefully. I did mine with tape first but only stayed on for short while. Then used tape and bolted it on, solid as a rock.
