When even a SUV handles better than the ES........

took my car to the dealer for some service and repairs.
got a brand new 2019 rx 350 with 1050 miles as a loaner.
i was shocked.
the rx 350 handles like a sedan and it handles much better than my 2015 ES.............what the heck?
The steering was pretty solid with a little jiggle in the center, like every other lexus. But the steering in normal driving mode felt much more solid and connected to the road than my ES. This was truly shocking.
excellent SUV by the way, but it just falls short to the germans in "in cabin" engine noise. Too much engine noise when driving normal, a detail that the germans are very very good at.

Newer platform. Compare the RX to the 2019 ES, the 2019 handles much better than your 15

The current luxury car trend is to become sportier for some odd reason. I live in NJ, potholes and tolls, I prefer my comfort.
Hence why the new ES looks like an Infiniti

The new ES is smoother and quieter than the previous generation ES, despite also handling better and looking sportier.

I prefer smooth ride and handling to a sporty ride. That's why I bought the ES. It's not a technology or engineering issue, they are making a product for their target buyers.
Lexus has other offerings for sedan buyers that want that like the IS and GS.
I've had RX and NX as loaners, I don't like the choppy ride. I was glad to have my ES back.

The NX sure, but the RX doesn't have a choppy ride, they ride very nice and smooth.

the ride was super smooth and steering felt a lot more connected to the road than my ES.
But the engine sounds very weak considering is a v6 and is very very audible from the cabin when driving past 2k rpm. it sounded very cheap honestly, in this regard my ES's engine is almost inaudible from the cabin.

Hah!
I also got a brand new 2018 RX as a loaner with 140 miles on it.
It was a hybrid.
I put 9,000 miles on it and loved it.
I am considering buying one if they can’t figure out how to get rid of the rattle in my dash on my 2017 ES350.
its still in the shop—different dealer now though.

I’ve driven lots of RXs and lots of ESs, the RX rides every bit as good as the ES.

Ride can be a subjective thing.
I've driven both back to back and I think the ES is smoother (and I actually own an ES unlike you)
It's seriously weird you like to go and argue in car forums on models you've never even owned. Do you do this with other car brands?

Theyre basically the same vehicle. The RX is just a little bit taller. Same platform, same powertrain and they drive very similarly.
If you have a different viewpoint then share your viewpoint, doesn’t mean you have to attack me for mine.

Don't mind SW17S, he likes to drop in and argue with people about cars he's never owned, but is certain they are wrong about them.
The RX and ES are set up to ride much differently, the suspension is different.
My experience was also the ES350 has a more sedate ride. A family member has a new RX and I've spent a few weeks with it. Not a bad ride, but the ES is definitely more like a traditional Cadillac.
