>there are different modes?
Yup, when in summer mode you grab the wiper and pull it up along the windshield. You'll feel it go "click" and it will stay positioned further up the windshield.
When in winter mode you grab it and push it downward and they will both move further down towards the hood.

I thought it was the reverse... up for winter, down for summer. That way when up for winter you can easily clear snow off them or even keep them off the windshield, down for summer to keep them out of the harsh sunlight.

This is a great feature. Unfortunately eliminated for 2019... No more winter/summer positions...
>No more winter/summer positions...
But can you still "stand" the wipers up to get them out of the way during a snow storm?
The wipers on my Jaguar don't flip up making snow removal harder than with the Lexus...

Not from the rest position. You have to select the "mist" setting by pushing the stalk up within 45 seconds after turning your engine off and the wipers will go straight up and remain there. Then, and only then, you can pull them away from the windshield. Cannot be pulled out at rest position as they hit the back of the hood... Poor design IMO. I liked the summer/winter design much better...
