Same here. 2013, when listening to Sat radio while phone is paired I get notifications on both texts and emails. Had to tweak a couple "messaging" settings as in the "Navigation and Sound" manual, but works fine.
go to settings -> bluetooth -> tap on the ? mark on the right of the name of the car.
then you can enable "notifications".
Not sure what’s going on but on my iPhone this ? Is not there - there is an “i” in a circle and when I tap that it only shows choices regarding importing of contacts, nothing on notifications.

My iPhone has the switch to show notifications under the “i” just as alexNY suggested under the ? on his iPhone. I would suggest we might be dealing with different versions of Apple IOS or different versions of Bluetooth (I.e. different age of phones)? For the purpose of comparison, I am using iPhone Xs and IOS 12.2.

Thanks, I’m also on 12.2 (iphone 7plus) and I don’t have anything in terms of notifications under the “i”, it only has “sync contacts” with a toggle for on or off and below it all the groups of contacts that I have...
So when you select <Settings> <Bluetooth> and turn Bluetooth ON, then click on the circled "i" for the appropriate "My Devices" item for the car, it does not look like this: ? (I'm on IOS 12.2 also). If you haven't changed the "name" of your Bluetooth on the car itself you will not see "Lexus" but it will be called something like "car audio" or "mobile audio" or some such. That should be which Bluetooth is showing as "connected" on your phone if you are in the car with the accessory power ON.

It looks almost like this, but it does not have the “show notifications” toggle. Everything else is the same.
I wonder if your bluetooth somehow got corrupted on the phone? Does your bluetooth music play ok? Other than that perhaps it is something unique to 7plus.
Certainly it sounds like an issue with the phone rather than Nav. I would find a technology specialist at the dealership; they are used to these issues.
