My 2013 ES350 side mirrors are already darkened as of yesterday - the car is garaged at home and at work. None of my other cars had this issue this early. I understand that as "complicated" mirrors age, this can happen? This happened to my auto rearview mirror on my Acura before. The mirror is darker and you can see an outline liquid-type line near the edges. I can still see out of them, but I figure this will get a little hard to see in the dark.
A quick call to the dealer wanted over $400 for each mirror? Are you F-ing kidding me? These dealers man...
I know GM and other makers had a problem with auto-dimming mirrors and the fluid would leak out of the inside and onto the top reflective surface. Could this be an issue with cold temps in the winter and now 95 degree temps in NC? But handling temperatures changes is a common issue in all types of engineering.
Maybe I'll call the local Japanese mechanic. Anyone else have darkened side view mirrors or any solutions?

As for your case, best bet would be to get the glass from a junkyard. I saw some ebay glass for $150. You can even get the complete door mirror for $200 used.

salvage yard, eBay, or Craigslist . Do a search for salvage Lexus as many places that sell them also have part outs or know who does. Only way I would buy new body or these type parts is if someone else is footing the bill i.e insurance claim or warranty
