I own a 2005 ES330 with 230,000 miles and absolutely love it! I have had zero issues other than maintenance and brakes. I'm getting ready to get a newer used ES350 and would like some advice/opinions on what people would recommend regarding the best years to buy or not buy. I know there was a model change in there and I've heard the nav systems are very clunky but other than that I'm having trouble learning whether there were more problems with any one year over the other. I realize the price will vary based on the year and I'm prepared to buy any of the years listed 2012-2017. Any help you can give me is appreciated - thank you!

2012 based on Camry platform; 2013 and up on the Avalon...a bit longer and a lot more rear seat legroom.

All I can tell you is I have a 2013 ES. Bought it new and other than a minor squeak in the dash ( which the dealership fixed ) haven't had one mechanical issue. Love my 2013. Still under 50K miles so I'll be driving this one for several more years.

I have a 2014 ES and enjoy it very much--75,000 miles with no issues. The 2014 added "Siri Eyes Free". If you have an iPhone it works great. The 2015 is identical to the 2014. 2016-2018 had a few cosmetic changes (tailpipe, grill, driver info display) but also the Weather and Traffic are available via free radio signals, IIRC. Whereas on the 2013-2015 you have to have an Sirius XM subscription. Nonetheless, the traffic info is OK at best and the WX info is nearly useless (for the few times Sirius XM has provided a few weeks of free access for us 2013-2015 vehicles.)
That's what I recall without looking up anything. I have the Ultra Luxury edition and enjoy all the goodies...so that'd be my recommendation, if you can find one.
