For those of you who still insist on money-wasting dealership services:
Just an example here - I'm at 100k miles so a coolant change is needed. The local Lexus dealership wanted $249 for a coolant change, and the Toyota dealership was at $119. I went to my local Japanese mechanic and he charged me $37 for a coolant change, with Toyota long life coolant and labor. He said changing coolant is a "piece of cake" for a mechanic.
Now, my Japanese mechanic waiting room has only a bathroom and coffee. No gourmet snacks and meals like Lexus.
This is not the Space Shuttle, SpaceX rocket or the International Space Station that we are servicing - it's only a Lexus car.

A great example of ways to save on services where sophisticated computers aren't required. Bravo.

i'm planning to drop off my car for oil changes at my regular mechanic, who also happens to have a toyota avalon.
for now the cpo program is taking care of the next oil change, but after that no more lexus dealer unless warranty repairs are required.
This is my first Lexus as an owner (i've driven a lot of lexus before, but did not own any). So far from 9 months of ownership, i can tell everything is DUMB easy in this car. I gotta give props to Toyota. everything just snaps into place, very easy to take out body panels and the like. I believe any certified mechanic with half a brain can work on lexuses.
i cannot believe how simple changing the headlight bulb was. just open hood, take out bulb, replace bulb. Every other car i've had in the past 10 years required removal of the front bumber, or access via wheel well (this one i really want to go slap the guy who designed it, absolutely idiotic design). this is just an example, but it goes on and on. everything is dumb easy in this car. Take this from a guy who is really bad at DIY, and yet i've replaced several things in my car by myself. this is an achievement.

Yup, just like original (i.e., non-GM) Saabs use to be. Everything was logical and accessible, just super super engineering design.

My 2013 was in the dealership for work on three occasions; the 5k checkup, 10k FREE oil change, and a recall for the trunk release... I expect to do the same with the 2019 UL...
