Default Oci interval - too long??

Hey fellas' quick question for you. I have a 2013 ES 350.. bought it new and I have always changed the oil and filter every 5K miles. I also use Mobil 1 EP 0W - 20. So anyway when I pulled in the garage tonight I glanced at the odometer and realized that I will need to change oil and filter in approx. 200 miles. That got me to wondering when was the last time I changed my oil and filter. I knew it was no more than 5K miles ago, but couldn't remember how long it had actually been. Looked it up tonight and found out that I last changed my oil and filter on Oct. 30th, of LAST YEAR!!!! So my question to you is do you think that oil being in there for just a tad over a year lost a lot of it's protective properties.. That oil is supposed to be good for 15K miles in between oil changes... and it's only been in there for 5 thousand miles, but it has been in there for a full year. Had no idea I had only driven this car 5 thousand miles in an entire year. Your thoughts please?

Nothing to worry about. 1 year is the max for my cars that are rarely driven only due to condensation, but a long drive at temp will remedy that.

+1 - Good advice, using quality synthetic oil today can easily go a year or more w/o a change. Disposing of oil at 5000 mile intervals is a waste... I would heed the mileage interval at 10k...

Wow, you're screwed! Trade it in quick, before it falls apart!

j/k I don't need to drive my ES much, so for the past 5 years, I just shoot for the 12 month mark. You'll be fine.

appreciate the advice guys... bc, I know the manual says oci's are scheduled at 10K miles, but you have to remember I grew up in the "old days" when you never ever let your oil change go longer than 3K miles... so going from 3 k to 5 K mile intervals is hard for me... Plus I live in the south with 5 months or so of EXTREME heat.. You are probably right that I'm wasting some of my time and money by changing at 5K, but since I only drive it 5 or 6K a year, it's not a big deal... plus, does changing it every 5K miles hurt anything.. absolutely not.. putting in fresh mobil 1 synthetic every 5K can only be good for the engine.. plus, and here's the real truth.. it just gives me peace of mind... but I appreciate the advice.. thank you.

7-7.5K miles OCI for my 17 ES350 (16K miles so far) and my wife's 08 RX350 (136K miles). The RX350 is still running very smooth at 136K miles (plus the annual transmission fluid drain/refill).

What year the RX 350? Tell us more about the trans fluid change? Looking for evidence of a successful trans fluid change.

TIA

2008 model year.

My wife drives around 10K miles per year. Started doing the annual drain/refill every year around Nov or Dec timeframe at 90K miles, owned the RX350 since 70K miles (should have started this when I bought the car). Drain/refill takes around ~5 quarts. My longtime mechanic charges me $60 labor to have this done and I supply the WS transmission fluid (~$9-10 per quart from ebay reputatable sellers). BTW, the transmission filter/pan gasket were also replaced at 115K miles.

The RX350 still shifts like the day I bought it. No hard shift, nor any vibration/notchy feels when I shift from P to D or D to R. I highly recommend doing this annually. If you have the skill to do this yourself, it will only cost you $50 per year and that's cheap insurance.

Even Amsoil states 1 year on their 25k oil? Anyways, I used 5-30w mobile 1 synthetic for the life of the car on a 2jzge twice a year or 5k or less, at 112k miles over 10 years and it's burning about 1qt per 2k miles for what it's worth.
