ES350 sunroof rattle dealer fix fail?
I took my car into the dealer twice for sunroof rattle fix. The first time the dealer adjusted something which did nothing. The second time the dealer replaced the sunroof assembly (I'm not sure what parts).
However, I'm still hearing the sunroof rattling, although with a lighter sound. What do you guys think I would do? Just bring it back? 😩
It happens at speed and sometimes even on flat ground. It's also cold right now (8-10C). Not reproducible when raining.

Surprised they did not try to replace just the sunroof seal - it is a $50 part (Toyota 63251-30100) and 30 minutes of labor. It fixed my sunroof rattle completely (at least for now).
A good way to check sunroof rattle is to open the drivers door, grab the sunroof with two hands (one above, one below) and shake it side to side.

You can put some lube on the seal to see if that is the culprit, which is part of the Lexus troubleshooting procedure. If the lube makes it quiet, then change the seal.
If they did change the sunroof assembly and did not use locktite on the hardware it will come back. Take it back in for another repair.
I had to take mine in for a fix after the seal lube did not work. They did not change the assembly but re tightened all fasteners with locktite.
Only problem is the headliner must be dropped again. Very hard to get everything tight like new each time it is dropped.
Great lube for all surfaces;

Use Shinetsu Grease...on the rubber, it might fix your issue. There's a call to corporate if you are not a satisfied owner. You have to let them address this issue, other wise you become an
anti-Lexus fan. We do not want that. Good luck.

Not sure how any lube should help. My seal had shrunk and I could wiggle the sunroof easily in the roof - producing clunking sound in the process. If anything lubricating the seal should only make it move easier and rattle louder.
With a new seal the sunroof fits tightly in the roof and does not move at all.

One thing I've noticed is that my sunroof doesn't rattle, but sometimes the interior sunshade does when it's fully closed. I'm working on figuring out exactly what conditions cause it before I have the dealer fix it.

It bugs me that there is no option to not have a sunroof. Mine, like most I imagine, is never used, cuts down on headroom and is subject to leaks and rattles, what a waste of money.

I agree, they are cool but not worth the hassle. My last car had a pano sunroof. It gave me so much trouble. Loud and constant noises not even loud music can drown out. The dealer attempted numeorus fixes to no avail. Drove me crazy. If I could get a fully featured car without it I would. Last car was a Kia optima
