Factory Lexus oil filter (you can get on Amazon or Ebay around $6) and Mobil 1 at Walmart. You're just throwing money away to do anything else. Your car is not going to last any longer with a different combination.

Yep, agree. Does not need to be Mobil1, could go with Pennzoil too. Heck, I bet you can even put amazon basic synthetic oil and it will still be OK and engine will not have any oil related issues and outlive the car.
Years ago, I used to spend a lot of times reading stuff on bobistheoilguy.... looking for that perfect oil... I later realized that its a stupid waste of my time, and anything synthetic beyond well known brands you see at walmart is waste of money. In fact, I am worried that boutique oils like Amsoil may cary more risk than benefit. How many people use Mobil1 vs how many people use Amsoil? If any issues, the statistics by numbers will be more evident with a high volume users vs very small club of boutique oil users.

In the end I was very content with my decision. Nobody is really right or wrong in this thread.....everyone is doing what they feel is best or " just fine " for their cars.
Originally I did order the OEM Toyota filter .....I really thought I was on the right track with those and then went searching for my oil. When I received my inexpensive oil filters in the mail ......I opened the Toyota OEM boxes and was just disappointed.......seemed cheap cheap cheap.....a bunch of glued paper! Thats when I decided to go for the Mobile 1 filter. So I will buy in on what u guys are saying about the oil.....but I disagree about the filters. As for the oil....yes personally I went with OEM Toyota oil because thats what I wanted to do......and that is what it is......But someone posted before how rare an oil related failure happens and I have to agree with that. Its never the oil thats the issue.....its some other human error or mechanical failure. So use whatever you want...
