Extended warranty? To do or not to do, that is the question...
Hi , I just bought a used 2015 Lexus ES 350. I'm not sure if I should get the extended warranty or not. It has two free years left on the bumper to bumper warranty as it is a certified Lexus from a dealership. Of course the finance guy was looking to sell me an additional three years for about $3,000 which I would start paying now which I thought was kind of crazy. However , after researching extended warranties it looks like if I call anybody now they would want me to start paying now even though I wouldn't need that additional coverage for another two years. I have two years left free on the current Bumper to Bumper at the dealership. So I'm wondering if I should just wait another year or so and then rethink about getting the extended warranty or if I should go with a warranty now. Or should I not get a warranty at all? Just curious of people's thoughts on this and what expensive items arent covered with warranty that i may not have read yet. thanks

first, congrats on your purchase.. as for the extended warranty, my personal opinion is don't buy it. I didn't buy it when I bought my Lexus.. in fact in all my years of buying cars, I've always hated how the guy in the finance dept. tries to convince you to buy the extended warranty.. so when I got ready to buy my Lexus, I told the sales rep, " I"ll take the car, but I don't want to hear one word buying an extended warranty.". I was joking ( sort of ).. but I guess they took it to heart, finance dept. rep never mentioned it... Some people like the peace of mind with the extra warranty and that's fine, but the truth is these are pretty dependable vehicles... I bought my Lexus new in Jan. of 2014... so six years now and not one mechanical warranty issue... just sayin
