Thinking of a 2014 ES350 with 49k miles.
Just wondering if there are any specific areas to look for when doing a pre purchase inspection on this generation ES. I drove the car and everything seems fine but maybe I missed something? Any tips are appreciated. It’s a one owner car with no accidents and clean title. Front driver seat shows some wear and the windshield has been replaced. Overall really clean car.

I don't see why not ( depending on the asking price ). That's pretty low mileage for a 2014.. You say its a one owner car, no accidents... have you seen a service log.. just want to make sure all the recommended services were done... I have the same generation ( 2013 ) and I have had basically zero issues to speak of... overall they are good dependable vehicles... guess it comes down to (a) whether you like the car, and (b) if it's in your budget... Good luck with it.

Sounds like a great car. If all services are good I have found a couple well documented issues to look for. None are real deal breakers though depending on price.
- Sunroof squeak (rattle). Lexus has had to repair many under warranty.
- Excessive vibration at idle, in drive with the A/C on. Mine is a 2016 with 45k and does it. Most FWD cars will vibrate a little, but mine and others on here seem excessive.
Good Luck and it will serve your needs for a long time.

Shifting from park to drive can be rough at times. Mine is a 2015 with 33000 miles. But the car hardly has any issues to complain about, reliable and drives super smooth and the V6 has plenty of power. But from my understanding 2013s and 2014s have a super outdated infotainment.

This car is pretty clean (Windshield not Original), but only showed a total of 7 service records to show for. I hoped it would be better, but it’s is what it is. Maybe i can use that as leverage on price. We’ll see. I also saw 2012 the other day that was actually cleaner than this one except the front bumper got repainted but service records were on point until 75k miles.

Did you go to website www.drivers.lexus.com and enter the VIN number. It will have any dealer services but not always independent shops. These cars are so dependable that a handful of oil changes being the only recorded service is very normal. A car fax would be nice if it's free. Check condition of spare, jack, tool kit. Check battery date, 4 years or older, ask for $150 discount. Check air filter, if it's original and filthy, that's a sign of neglect by owner IMHO. Sounds great otherwise.

Swfla, I did check Carfax and Lexus drivers. With Carfax, it shows 7 service records and with Lexus drivers it shows services up to 21k miles with the dealer. The drivers door latch was replaced at 21k and regular services done. I forgot to check the air filter.🤦🏻♂️

Had a 2013 and currently a 2017 and have not had one problem. J D Power has ranked Lexus #1 in dependability eight times and #2 twice in the last ten years. They look at three year old cars when doing the survey. So the 2017 study covers your 2014 which they rank the ES as the most reliable compact premium car. How the ES is compact is a whole other story. Since you only have service records to 21,000 miles the most that could have been neglected is an oil change at 30,000 and 40,000 miles and the brake fluid change at 30,000 miles. I would get those both done immediately. Change the air and cabin filters which cost $40 for both and takes under 4 minutes.

Many Lexus owners use the Lexus dealer for the complimentary first two years of service and, after that, use someone else for service. That service done by someone other than a Lexus dealer might or might not be recorded in the Lexus Drivers data base.
Since the 21,000 miles of service records could likely coincide with the first 2 years of the original owner's ownership of the car, it could well be that regular service was done but that it was done by someone other than a Lexus dealer and was just not recorded in the Lexus Drivers data base. In many cases, owners who have service done by someone other than a Lexus dealer will have kept records of that service.
