How to tell standard audio vs. Mark Levinson package
For those that have a 6th gen ES, how do you tell if it has the standard 8-speaker audio system vs. the Mark Levinson 15-speaker package? I'm searching used and it seems that no one lists the details on the stereo system. All they tend to say (if anything) is "premium sound" which is obviously very vague.
Is there any labeling anywhere, such as on the stereo controls or speakers, that would indicate that it's the upgraded package?
Considering that the ML audio was a very expensive option, it would seem unlikely that sellers would not remember to include it in the vehicle description if the car had it.
Also, note that, for the Generation 6 ES, virtually all ES with the Ultra Luxury package had the ML sound, and virtually all ES that were not UL cars did not have the ML sound system. And, since UL cars were rarer in the Generation 6 ES than they have been for Generation 7 ES cars, that means that the large majority of Generation 6 ES will not have the ML sound.
Note, too, that the standard sound system was called the Premium sound system.

Thank you. I have discovered some of that. I have read some online, and it seems there's some subjectivity, but what is your opinion on the ML system versus regular?

I had a 2013 ES with the standard sound system, and I now have a 2017 ES with the ML sound system, but I'm probably not the best person to weigh in with an opinion that compares the two systems. I'm not a big listener of music, and for my purposes, both the standard system and the ML system are fine.
When I bought the 2017 ES, I wanted the UL package for other features, such as the semi-aniline leather and driver's seat thigh support, but I would have been happy with either audio system.
I pulled the trigger on a 2017 300h with the standard system. It doesn't sound terrible but my Acura's was far superior. I may do some modifications in the future. Thanks for the info
