Thank you for the great write-up. I am not worried as much about wet traction so it might just be the Pirelli's.

  • Conclusion: A very good blend of comfort and traction
Note that various tests of the Michelin Premier tires indicate that, while they have better wet weather traction than other tires, including various Michelin Primacy tires, when they are new, after they have lost 2/32 or 3/32 of their initial tread, they start to lose that advantage, and when they have lost any more of their initial tread than that, they have poorer wet weather performance than the Primacy tires and tires from competitors.

IMO the Pirelli Cinturato P7 A+S is the best Tire to run on the ES. Like I said before the Michelin has long been my go to tire for everything.

Its funny that someone mentioned the wear and reduced traction on the Michelin in the rain. This was a problem I noticed when the Michelins were at 65% left or less. Rain Traction was not so good anymore. I have run the Pirelli's for a while now. In the rain they track very, very good. I have run them a little faster than should sometimes as a test, even diving in deep Highway puddles which upset the front for a sec but track right back in.

In my case running the 18' U/L wheel on 245/45/18. There is much less slipping from a dead stop on fast acceleration. But then again the 245/45/18 is a bigger wider tire also. I also feel the car more planted and stable cornering, braking, and at high speed. All around much better grip.

I just put these on my 17 a few days ago. 18 X 8 Konig Oversteer. Tires are 245/45-18 Falken 960's. So far, I'm digging it. The handling is so much better than the anemic 215/55-17 that came on it. Ride has not suffered either. IMO, this is how it should have came.

I like the fitment... looks like it fills in the wheel wells better than stock. Is that stock suspension?

Yes, this is the stock suspension setup. Fitment is perfect with no rubbing anywhere from lock to lock. Also forgot to list the wheel offset. It is +35mm.

FYI, Just about every BMW and Mercedes the Size and Weight of the ES comes Stock with 245/45/18. As another Member already said the ES handles, rides, tracks in rain, and feels smoother and so much better with the Larger and Wider Tires.

Looks great thanks for the pics. Agreed, smaller sedans like say a bmw 328xi is more suitable for 225’s. When mine wear out I will be going bigger maybe a 245/40r18
