I usually turn down the volume so I can then listen to my music without any engine sounds....

A surprising number of cars are doing that now, ranging from Hyundai to BMW. I think it's idiotic, but for some reason car companies never ask me.

What I find to be nice about the 3.5 liter V6 in the Generation 6 ES is that, when you get the revs up, say, to between 4000 and 5000 rpm to do a quick pass on, for example, a winding 2-lane country road, the engine sound is a very pleasing throaty growl, but, at normal cruising rpm, very little engine noise enters the cabin. For my tastes, that is a very nice combination.

Lexus claims around 7 seconds, but Car and Driver got more like 5.8. I haven't timed mine, but I'm inclined to believe C&D, because it feels fairly similar to my old TL, which did it in 5.7.

My neighbor has a 4 year old son who plays with a battery powered toy Lamborghini. There's a switch on the side that plays very loud engine sounds. I'd get one for the passenger seat and just turn it on when you're on the freeway...
