This is configurable in the menus. Look at option 4 in the personalized vehicle settings: https://www.lexus.com/pdf/service/MY...play-guide.pdf
The option refers to the button on the remote, but the "touch" of the handle works from the same setting.

As to the rest of your comments, I completely agree. Very comfortable, nice safety features and plenty of power given the impressively low fuel consumption. Fortunately, haven't experienced the windshield replacement yet. I never minded the joystick and don't really feel the touchpad in the newer models is any better. But then I also never liked the touchscreen on the Prius as it was always a mess of fingerprints.

I love my 17 es300h, it’s is my first hybrid car and I love it more and more everyday. You only really use the battery when in parking los, initial startups and then the engine kicks in when you need more power. The engine kicks on and off but you’ll never really notice. What you’ll notice is the 40mpg and almost 600 miles to a tank capacity.
