Need buying advice!!! Used Lexus ES 350 with 90k miles on it
Hi all!
I am new to the forums here. I am interested in getting a used Lexus as my first car, especially given that they are supposed to be really reliable and well-made vehicles.
I was initially torn between getting an Audi and a Lexus. However, I've been inclining towards the Lexus. The big question I have is how many miles is considered "okay" on a Lexus. For e.g. if I were to get an Audi I was going to limit myself to cars under 40-50k miles. I wanted to know what do people think about a 2014 used Lexus ES 350 with 90k miles on it. Thanks all for the advice!

I’d say get it over the European cars. I got my 2013 with 88k miles in 2018. It’s got 115k miles and runs great. I had to put a driver’s side front door actuator, a battery and tires on it. I do my own work on it since I’m a mechanic so the maintenance just the price of the parts and a little of my time. I did change the transmission filter and fluid when I first got it and did a drain and refill of transmission fluid only at 95k. Did plugs, brake fluid flush and coolant drain and refill at 100k. Just have a mechanic look it over for possible oil leaks and a full check over. You should be happy with the purchase if the car checks out in good shape. Also, it seems like the driver seat bottom leather on the 2013 and up ES don’t seem all that durable. Mine has wrinkles and slight wear. I’ve seen older ES seats look almost brand new. Hope that helps

Thanks for the replies everyone! The carfax has about 17 service records, with service performed at every 5-8k miles, and no major visible issues. So kinda looks alright to me.
Any suggestions for mechanics to go to for a Pre-purchase Inspection? I am located in the SF Bay Area.

Any specific issues / known engine problems at high miles I should ask the dealership to look for in the pre-purchase inspection? I tried to google those but couldn’t really find much

Another good thing about a Lexus is that it's a Toyota and they have become the replacements for the old Chevy Bel Air/Dodge Dart as the "standard" American auto.
That is, any neighborhood repair shop will be able to fix almost anything that can go wrong. Plus every single replacement part will only be a phone call away.

My karma just ran over your dogma
Current Hers: '13 Lexus ES350
Current Mine: '15 Jaguar XF (it's aubergine)
