Good Morning,

I have a 2018 ES and had a rock crack my front windshield right in my line of sight, I called Safe lite and they repaired it but did a lousy job. Would you know if Lexus dealerships replace front windshields if not who can recommend a good national or Boston based windshield company that used genuine replacement parts. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Regards,

I've had my windshield replaced by the dealer before. They don't actually do it. A glass guy that services dealers does it using OEM Lexus glass. It is not cheap, being around $1400 or so the last time I had it done. I have zero deductible so my insurance paid for it.

I use the dealer as they use OEM glass, if there is a problem, it's their problem, and I get a loaner while they do the work.

I had mine done at a Toyota dealer, (yes we can do that!, maintenance is way less expensive). Same routine, having a glass guy come in. They popped the windshield out of my 2014 ES 350 and realized the aftermarket glass they had wouldn’t work, so it sat 4 days and after a shipment from the regional Lexus warehouse, they had it in. Good news is that they honoured their original quote, so I got the $1200 windshield for $380. As I drove away from the shop I called my insurance agent for a glass policy. $285 a year. Had another one done this year at a chain store glass shop, they had to order from Lexus. For a $50 deductible. Apparently there are 13 different windshields for a ‘14 ES.
still wondering however what might’ve gone wrong with the body as the Toyota dealer drove it around the shop with no windshield. Ok so far.

BTW, it’s a windshield, not a window.
