Exclamation 2015 ES 300H Misfire because of oil filter gasket?

This may sound really weird, and wanted to get everyone thoughts.

I took the car to a Toyota dealer today to check my transmission fluid level (55k), and oil change. They said the transmission fluid level is good no need to change it. I gladly paid my $220 bill and left. I drove around 55 miles before my check engine light started blinking, reading this forum I knew a blinking CEL was bad so I pulled over right away and call for tow truck.

Once Toyota dealer got the Lexus they said the oil filter gasket was leaking oil, he may have pinched it or something..he was not careful when inserting the filter.

I asked him why / how the oil filter gasket leak could have caused a blinking CEL, he said he has no clue but there for sure was oil when he drained and refilled the oil.

does anyone have any thoughts on why? they also offered me free car detailing for my inconvenience, which is nice since I waited 3 hours to get the car back 2nd time around

Knowing the exact trouble code that caused the CEL would help answer your question. Did the dealer put that on the service report?

Possibly the oil level got so low that the oil pressure dropped and affected the operation of the camshaft phasers or chain tensioner. Did the Toyota dealer say how much oil was remaining when he was "for sure there was oil"

Yeah I didn’t think of that lol. It’s code P0304. I think that’s the reason why check engine light was blinking

It is weird because spark plug was fine before oil change and because of oil filter gasket leak it caused a pending p0304 code and made the check engine light blink

So after asking around I was thinking it may not be an failed gasket but the dealer over tighten the filter creating a crack which lead to all the fluids coming out. Which would explain why it’s a puddle of oil and not small drops
