I'm not accepting 1% less AC performance. I think I read the ECO mode only allows 70% capacity for the compressor to save gas. Nope, not here. In the winter though I will sometimes use Eco.
One reason I am loyal to Lexus is they just have amazing AC. Seems trivial, and most parts of the world a small thing, but when you've owned a car that has subpar AC in the southwest, it's a miserable experience.
The ES has one of the best AC's I've ever owned. Second only to the Lexus LS430. It had a "Middle East" mode you could access through the dealer TechStream scanner that went colder than the factory setting for markets like Dubai. I had 39 degrees coming out of the vent in the middle of summer.

I don't know why every company wants to imitate BMW, it just seems like Lexus is embarrassed to make comfortable, luxury cars.

With both the 2013 and 2017 ES cars that I owned, I drove in Eco mode over 99% of the time. I never found a problem with the air conditioning in Eco mode, even on days when the temperature was 95 degrees or hotter.
I found that the key to getting the AC to work well and to cool off the cabin more quickly, regardless of whether I was using Eco, Normal, or Sport mode, was to switch the AC from the recirculate mode to the fresh air mode immediately after starting the car. On very hot days, when the car has been parked in the sun, the temperature inside the cabin can reach 135 degrees or higher. The last thing you want to do is to be recirculating air that is 40 degrees or more hotter than the air outside of the car. Switching to fresh air mode can help the car to cool off noticeably faster.

Just got it a couple weeks ago, but my 2015 ES 350 is getting around 18 city / 30-35 highway. I think the city would be in the low 20s, but I live on a hill that goes up about 500 feet in elevation over half a mile, and that kills my MPG for short trips.
